Foreign teachers are required to provide course material at least one week in advance to allow students and staff to familiarise themselves with the content before lectures. At FYNU I worked with Professor Jianhui who provided oral translation of my lectures. At JNU I worked without translation assistance but scaffolded key concepts worked with the students to translate them. This works well. Students at these universities have quite high levels of written and spoken English.

At FYNU and JNU I was assigned two student teacher assistants. These students have excellent English and they help with various aspects of classroom management such as calling the roll, handouts, blackboard, PPT, recording lessons, liaising with students. My assistants have always been a delight and invaluable dealing with aspects of everyday life in China.
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching in China through Prepare Education and would recommend it to teachers wishing to experience Chinese people and culture.
